Mixed Media techniques galore

A Stamp is really a jigsaw piece for artful Storytelling.

I use stamps as a way to sketch and let stories start to flow into my art and work. This is because stamps provide many drawing ‘shortcuts’  that open up extremely valuable creative possibilities. Join me for an inspiring online workshop where you’ll discover my process in turning stamps into captivating narratives! This is more than just an online workshop, its intention is to grow your confidence in creative experimentation and mixed media.

If you are like me, you have probably collected a fair few stamps over the years. Each set probably had a design or two in it that appealed to you at the time and after a few uses has since sat gathering dust. Well, it’s time to get out all your stamps and put them to work for you!

As far as art supplies go, you can use any stamps and stamping ink that you have. Of course I will be using my innovative INKvincible inks and Jane D stamps and art supplies ( wouldn’t it be super-weird if I didnt?).

Throughout the workshop, I will show you how I harness the potential of stamps to jumpstart the drawing process which then allows you to focus on the enjoyable aspects of shading and coloring rather than the stress of perfecting a face from scratch. The ability to super-charge your art time so you can focus on what you love to create most is very enjoyable!

You will find a combination of creativity-lead exploration and more technique based lessons that involve combining stamps, making scenes and reversing images.

A peek at what you’ll learn:

  • Innovative Stamping Techniques:
    • Use  clear cling polymer stamps with acrylic blocks for precise, crisp images.
    • Master the art of layering stamps to create depth and interest.
  • Coloring and Customization:
    • Explore our INKvincible ink collection, featuring 10 vibrant colors, including portrait and skin tones.
    • Learn how to paint over lighter ink shades to customize and personalize your artwork.
  • Storytelling Through Art:
    • Incorporate faces and figures into your pieces without the stress of drawing freehand.
    • Use stamps and stencils to build narratives and convey emotions.
  • Mixed Media Magic:
    • Discover techniques for combining stamping with other mediums.
    • Utilize the Smooth Operator journal’s smooth white art cards for optimal results.

Materials Needed:

  • Waterproof stamping ink – INKvincible Stamp Pad Inks are best of course!
  • Stamps : I recommend Clear Cling Polymer Stamps for the storage benefits, but all stamps are useful!
I will be using stamps from my designs which you can see here:

.

  • Acrylic Stamp Blocks: If you are using clear cling stamps, you will need stamp blocks to set them. I will be using my set here:

‘Clear Thinking’ Stamp Block Set | Make a good impression!

  • Paper – I will be using the  ‘Smooth Operator’ Journal and ‘Back to the Fuschia’ watercolour paper.

‘Smooth Operator’ Light Hearted Journal | White Art Card for sketching & stamping

  • Stamp cleaner : This is an optional tool, but essential for the longevity of stamps. I use the Clean Case Stamp Scrubber and Stamp Spritz Cleaning Spray

‘Clean Case’ & ‘Stamp Spritz’ | Always be ready to make a good impression!
