This Week is all about lovely, flowy, messy ink.
For a start, I just added a whole new suite of videos to my Supplies Me! workshop – all about ink and drawing smiles!
I invited all my Supplies Me Alumni to come and do the extra lesson – it’s a 700 plus team in that class alone, so I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s inky business!
I friggen LOVE ink. Especially like this, in an Aquash Waterbrush:
I like the way it instantly takes me into creative flow. I write and draw more beautifully. I don’t rush. What I write comes from a deep well. So Ink is the perfect medium to draw that from me.
And don’t even get me started on Liquitex Deep Turquoise acrylic ink! Yes, ink is messy (Sometimes I even manage to get some on the paper 😉
But there is definitely something magic about colour that flows so easily and stays so vivid. I have been tripping out on using Ink all week.
And then I received this email on a different type of Ink:
“In the summer of 2009/2010 my mum and I went to your studio and I saw your Lovebirds picture, my mum later went back and bought it for me and told you how I wanted to use it for my tattoo, to go with the script I’d already picked out :
“Love is not a cage its a home in which you are free“
Well it has been a LOONNG time coming but I finally got the tattoo! I haven’t got the text done yet but your picture is there. Just thought you’d like to see it 🙂
Thanks for making a lovely picture,
Jessy”
Amazing right? The original of “Love Birds” is below. I think the tattooist did an INKredible job! And So did Jessy with the image taking up the tickliest part of the body – her side rib cage! Amazing!!! oops, I already said that… Totally, gorgeously, delightfully fantastic!
When I showed Angus, he said, I should have some of my drawings done! And It got me thinking that a tattoo is a form of Art Journal… symbols of who we are, where we are going, what we believe from inside to out. Oh, to have that kind of surety! I could never decide with the one thing to have in something so permanent as a tattoo… I admire those who do!
I hope you are having an INKredible week!
