I’m racing to get my plein air sketching done before the Wisconsin weather prevents me from being outside ….(for more than a few minutes at a time.) I’m pretty wimpy when it comes to the cold!
Any chance I have, I grab my sketch books and head into the garden. Everything is taking on a beautiful Autumn golden glow.
The Stonecrop Sedum is a magnet for butterflies and bees of many varieties, shapes and sizes. The bumble bees are always a favorite but the current “main attraction” are the honey bees. As the honey bee population has mysteriously been on the decline, local farmers have been attempting to boost the population. Honey bees are welcome visitors in my garden!

Sketching a moving target can be tricky and a bit intimidating at first, but with practice, it can be a lot of fun and a very useful way of gathering information that is helpful for future inspiration and reference.
I have really enjoyed using the these supplies for sketching on location, they are compact and portable.
They are just what I need to get the job done – beautifully!
