‘Joy Of Life’ ColourWheel | Uplifting colour

LayerCake Colour Wheels are a fit-in-your-palm palette of our unique paint. Each one contains 6 glorious hues, carefully balanced to satisfy a specific creative need!

The Joy of Life palette is inspired by the orphaned wildlife I have adopted through the Sheldrick Trust in Kenya.  I adore seeing the elephants they have rescued and shepherded to adulthood, even going on to have wild born babies of their own!

The colours mix to build an incredible range of hues, especially wonderful for natural paintings.

Tsavo is one of the areas in Kenya where the orphans can be raised in safety, and this green celebrates the tender foliage that shoots when it rains.

DolDol was an impossibly small elephant orphan and this is the blue of her favourite blanket. Infant elephants have their giant mothers and family to shade them in the wild, and small orphans need sun protection and warmth at night from their blankies.

Rhana is an orphaned rhino who lost her tail to hyenas before she came into care, but she is doing well and trots about in her bright red blanket growing stronger every day. One day she will join the wild rhinos and be an important part of the conservation of her species.

Twiggy is inspired by a little giraffe who became seperated from her family and tried to live with a herd of zebras. They were very accepting of her, but she still needed her mothers milk and she was taken into care and is well on the way to living a fully wild life!

Humpty was a tiny hippo orphan who everyone instantly fell in love with with her big smile and tiny body ( for a hippo!). This incredible pink-red is named for the adoration she drew.

Mwinzi is a beautiful grey that mixes well with others, just like the little elephant it shares it’s name with!

I start each day looking at the posts on Instagram from the Sheldrick Trust. It brings me hope and happiness. They not only raise orphan wildlife, but aid wild elephants with their INCREDIBLE mobile vets and are instrumental in anti-poaching efforts in the region. Proceeds form this palette will be added to my ongoing support of these amazing humans.

LayerCake paint combines the vivid opacity of gouache with watercolour’s ease of use, and acrylics’ layerability.
